SNP treasurer Colin Beattie has today been arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation into the party's funding and finances.
The 71-year-old is being held by detectives probing what happened to more than £600,000 in donations to the Scottish National Party, Police Scotland said.
It comes a fortnight after Nicola Sturgeon's husband Peter Murrell, the party's former chief executive, was arrested and then released.
Officers also searched their Glasgow family home and the SNP headquarters in Edinburgh.
Mr Beattie has been the MSP for Midlothian North and Musselburgh since 2011. His arrest is another blow for new SNP First Minister Humza Yousaf, who was hoping to move on from the crisis today.
A Police Scotland statement said: 'A 71-year-old man has today, Tuesday, 18 April 2023, been arrested as a suspect in connection with the ongoing investigation into the funding and finances of the Scottish National Party.
'The man is in custody and is being questioned by Police Scotland detectives.'
The SNP is being investigated over donations of more than £600,000 it received between 2017 and 2020 to bankroll a new attempt to split the United Kingdom. Police have already seized a luxury £110,000 motor home from off the drive of Sturgeon's 91-year-old mother-in-law.
The media are busy speculating about how far and deep the fraud goes in the SNP, but when they only focus on money, they're rather missing the point: The very basis of the so-called 'Scottish National Party' is fraudulent. Because, far from being 'nationalist', the SNP is internationalist. Economically, it's neo-Marxist. Socially it's fully on board with the globohomo LGBTQI+ agenda. As Scotland's population shrikns it backs a massive expansion of abortion. The SNP favours swamping waves of replacement Third World immigration. Many of its activists are not even Scottish, with many of them getting their anti-British and anti-English bigotry from their Irish family history, and in Glasgow in particular their councillors, activists and voting block are heavily Pakistani. The SNP's biggest sub-group is 'Asians for Scottish Independence'.
Finally, the biggest fraud of all is the claim that Scotland can be independent, when successive governments in Westminster and Holyrood have imposed liberal globalist economic suicide policies which have left Scotland dependent on tax handouts from southern England.
