Royal Mail Under Foreign Threat

The Royal Mail is set to fall into foreign hands for the first time in its 508-year history.

In a move that sent shockwaves through the City and Westminster, the board of its parent company backed a £3.5billion takeover offer from a billionaire dubbed the 'Czech Sphinx'.

With the Government unlikely to block any deal, it paves the way for the company – set up by Henry VIII in 1516 – to be taken into overseas ownership. The Labour Party have said it's a bad idea, but Starmer has made it clear that a future Labour government would not reverse the proposed takeover by Daniel Kretinsky.

As a result, we face the loss of another critical part of our national infrastructure by a foreign shark who will do exactly what they always do - as we've seen, for example, with our crumbling water and overpriced energy companies. It will be ruthlessly asset-stripped and looted. Only when the whole thing has been milked dry and left in ruins will the British taxpayer finally be forced to step in an fund a bid to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. It's criminal!
